August 19th, 3:30-7 (30mins. before and after "setup/teardown" time allotted)
Vets who are willing to talk with incoming freshman about Dagorhir, we could use your help. Private message me, here or FB, or talk to me at practice (which is probably better as I haven't been checking the internet as much lately) if you want to help. I will reply to you the location as it is not our normal practice area since too many inflatables were ordered and they will be occupying our regular field. If you are currently enrolled this fall to be a student at IPFW, let me know too.
8/10 Edit: This will be run similar to a wednesday practice in that it will be primarily sparring and maybe a few small team fights - the exception is it will be centered around recruiting new persons. Expect to talk alot. We will hopefully have an EZ-up for our area and table/chairs.
Please bring water, your own gear, and wear any garb that you have and are comfortable wearing in the warm weather. I will try to get some extra water jugs but no guarantees at the moment.

I may be heading to an event on that day, but if it falls through, I know I can help out. I think something about a sexy, fit, black male should convince some walker-by that this can be a cool event.

Just wanted to send out a thank you for everyone who helped with this and made it possible. Despite my forgetfullness, broken printer, the location change, and just plain flabergastedness, we had great success this year. From the mistakes that have been made, alot has been learned for what to do in the future in organizing and setting this up - which will hopefully further our efforts and recruitment in the future.
Again, thank you for your help volunteers!

Some friends and I would like to try this out. We had a few questions. Mainly, how do we find out when and where to play, there is nothing anywhere. We found this via 4 hours of searching from a 2 year old piece of paper I had. Second, are there different groups? (humans, elves, etc) Third, how do we contact you if this is still going on and general information Finally, is it all battle or is it mostly quest and w/e Please lemme know! Jordan, Thanks for taking the time to look up the local Dagorhir chapter. I'm sorry it was so difficult to find. We regularly play at Shoaff Park on Sunday's from 1 to 5 PM, give or take a half hour. Our normal spot is across the street from the golf course parking lot. We usually have between 15 and 30 people on Sundays. We also get together on Wednesdays at Shoaff, same spot. Wednesday are usually just a handful of people doing some sparring. The IPFW Foam Fighting club gets together Friday afternoons in the grassy area across from Walb Student Union. If you haven't had the opportunity, check out the game's website: www.dagorhir.com/The rules are posted there as well as some starter tutorials for building gear. The basic rule set is used to play different games such as team elimination and capture the flag. Everybody brings to the field their own level of athleticism. There are no classes within the game. Some people like to add some role play to it and take on a character persona. This sometimes goes as far as dressing as a chosen race or people from history. The game is supposed to be a medieval Europe meets the Lord of the Rings and at larger gatherings people are usually required to wear appropriate garb. As far as contacting us, I still check these boards every few days and there is good information stored here. Recently we've also gotten a facebook group going. www.facebook.com/#!/groups/Northernsteppes/ Feel free to bump in there and join up. The game is primarily all battle. The rules can be used in conjunction with scenarios or special additional rules that are made up on the fly. There are events going on all over the country throughout the year, and if you enjoy meeting new people and camping, you should definitely think about checking some out. Some people do a little more role play at these exteneded events, but mostly it is battle during the day, and hang out around the camp fires in the evening (while wearing tunics and such). I hope I answered a few of your questions. Feel free to post more here or on the Facebook page. Also, feel free to stop by one of the practices and chat us up.
