If your prone to the idea of elephants, think mammoths maybe. Prolly would survive better in our frozen wasteland. Make a seperate thread if you guys are realy interested in the ecology of the area. Try to stick to geography here please.

Ecology is geography, people are geography, geology is geography...We are sticking to geography, and elephants are elite.

Ecology: the branch of biology dealing with the relations and interactions between organisms and their environment, including other organisms. dictionary.reference.com/browse/ecologyGeography: the topographical features of a region, usually of the earth, sometimes of the planets. dictionary.reference.com/browse/geographyGeology: the science that deals with the dynamics and physical history of the earth, the rocks of which it is composed, and the physical, chemical, and biological changes that the earth has undergone or is undergoing. dictionary.reference.com/browse/geologyYour opinion of elephants is your own, but these are the definitions of most of the words you just used.

Geography is wayyy more in-depth than that. Geography is also looking at population trends, different types of environments, cultures, development of technology, etc... Things the topography influences, and how it got that way. I had a badass geography teacher in 9th grade (Mr. Duncan); we learned things, analyzed things... geography isn't a definition. You will find it very difficult to discuss something about the Northern Steppes that doesn't have to do with geography.

On a side note, I saw a shirt recently with this printed on the front:

No sidetracking intended, I am letting everyone know that there are more things to geography than meets the eye and to keep posting any and all your great ideas. Brainstorming produces results ;]

Lynx rocks! They may be around the steppes. I looked them up on wiki and they live in colder areas. yeah. If anyone knows more info about them, and know for sure they wouldn't be there then take them out of the list. But if they can be added, ADD them!
