It is another cold and snowy morning in the Steppes. Rowan of Ursis Tribe is just wakeing from his nights sleep to see that his favorite sword isnt in its rest where it should be.
He storms up wondering how somebody could have gotten into his tent and took his sword with-out him waking.
The splitting head ache and multiple empty casks of mead tell him how.
Rowan gets his armor and next favorite weapon, the heavy flail, and starts out his tent to follow the foot perints in the fresh snow.
He starts to follow the tracks to----

Rowan's narration is interupted as he trips over a small blackish creature. BAMM. Rowan can't see behind him or what he tripped over, but he does hear something rustle and run away...
He continues to follow the tracks in the snow.
After walking for a good minute or so... He comes back to the front of the tent where he tripped over that thing earlier.
"Oh. I guess that would make sense."
So he decides to follow the tracks yet again, but in the direction that the creature ran...

Rowan walked as quickly as he could through the fields, following the tracks left by the mysterious creature. Every once in a while he can see the creature just as he comes up on the top of a little hill, but the darn thing always disappears from view. Rowan stopped for a quick break and takes a drink from his water flask.When the midday sun crawled up towards the top of the sky, Rowan spots a town just over the next ridge. He hoisted his backpack that contained his tent and other necessities that he backed up before he left, higher on his shoulder as he set off. He saw that the tracks went straight for the town, something Rowan was glad of. It looked like a big enough town to host a tavern. There he could ask questions about little creatures that steal swords.Rowan continues on his way to the village, his step a little more lightly knowing that ale would soon be within his grasp As Rowan entered the town he was greeted by a group of children all holding out their hands for an offering of food or money. Rowan shooed them away and grumbled the about the disobedience of kids these days and how lucky they were he didn't have his sword. ********************
All the while, a little boy named Edmund had, quick as lightning, reached into Rowan's pouch and taken two gold pieces out. Being distracted by little kids, Rowan didn't notice. Edmund giggled and ran down the alley way with the two gold pieces clutched in his grubby hands. He ran at full speed, running through the busy market, and down a few more alleys, before he came to a door at the end of the grubbiest, darkest, alley.Edmund cautiously knocked on the door, his fellow thieves pressed all around him. "Password?" Came a girls voice, she sounded older than the others yet not old enough to be a women of many years. "Richies are guarantees with expertise," Edmund muttered, his eyes darting back at the street for a second. The door opened up. The girl stepped into the little light that was let in by the door, though she was hard to see. Her all black outfit blended in with the shadows offering almost perfect invisibility at night. "So what did you bring me this time Edmund?" She asked, her hand reaching out, palm turned up. "Two gold pieces! Stole them off some chump that entered the town. Didn't notice a thing!" the girl gave him a hard look as he put the pieces into her hand. "Honest! He didn't see me take them at all, I swear Ematai. I swear!" He gave her his more honest face, his hands wringing each other with nervousness. "Oh I know Edmund! I taught you well. Now all of you inside! It’s freezing out there; I also have two pies baking. So all of you clean your hands before dinner, and then we’ll celebrate today’s winnings with the pies!" Ematai smiled and shut the door behind the kids. She walked over to a book shelf on the other side of the room as the kids ran off through a door to get themselves cleaned. She pulled a book off the shelf, pulled a lever, and pushed the shelf to the side revealing a little doorway. She opens the door and ducks inside where a small back creature was pondering over a 1st grade Reader. Ematai smiled at him and walked over to a pair of jars and dumped the two gold coins in the smallest and put copper coins in the bigger one. "Well that’s 12 gold coins now Lamp, and as soon as we sell this sword, we'll get even more. Maybe we can splurge and get those kids some new shoes," Ematai wasn't looking at the creature, though he did look up when his name was spoken, she was staring at their new sword that was sitting on a table. She stroked the blade before she left the room, shutting it all up. Time to feed the kids. Meanwhile, Rowan was sitting at the tavern bar, his hand in his pouch searching for two extra gold coins that he swore he had. There were only 4 in his hands right now, not the 6 that he swore he had before. After a few frustrating minutes, he threw three back in and one on the counter. "Give me a pint," he grumbled hoping this day would turn out better. [eeek! sorry its so long. I got a little carried away with the story line. I hope its ok..and I kinda figured that the little black creature was Lamp, if its not just let me know...or just pretend it was. Sorry again that its long, kinda broke one of the rules about it being only one or two paragraphs. I just kinda hope that rule was meant to be taken as, no less than one paragraph. Hopefully you didn't mean no more...] [edit: fixed the mistakes and changed a few things. Nothing major, just word choice or the placement of words.]

[ Yeeeeeah Nancy! You rock. Yeap that was me. But as far as Lamp goes, I'm gonna try to make him a little bit more civilized that a wolf-creature. So, watch out for that... or something. And he's still 6ft 6in he's just mall when he's on the ground. Might wanna proof read some of your stuff nance, you put sweat instead of swear (unless you meant to) . But nice introduction and development . And what are we supposed to do with itlaics? Thoughts? Narration? Anything besides quotes? >.< ] As Ematai starts to leave, Lamp gets out from his corner and walks towards the jars of money. Ematai sees this and turns around to better see what he is doing. Lamp is slightly frightened by her response, but points at the jars multiple times, then makes a cup shape with his hands. "What good would gold do you, Lamp?" Ematai asks. Lamp re-enforces the cup shape with his hands and holds it higher. [ He starts to hold his hands together, as if holding a ball, then rubs them together simultamiously, thens pretends to listen them. Haha. WoW joke. Idk if anyone besides Em and I gets it... ] "You just want to... hold it? Alright... you did earn it." Ematai replies to his odd hand gesture. She opens the jar, grabs six of the shinest she could reach, and drops them into his hands. Lamp gladly accepts and attempts to mutter out a "Th..ank you." Ematai sighes and smiles at Lamp, then leaves to take care of the children. Lamp slowly follows her out, as he rubs his brand new coins in his half-worn hands. He decides to attempt to become more social with the children and possibly even partake in the "play" that is going on.

~~~Back at the Pub across town~~~
Rowan is more than pleased to find the the Honey mead is only a "bit" or of tenth of a gold piece. About a gold and half worth of pints later... Rowan remembers why he is here.
"Oi! Barkeep... I followed some foot... err... paw, no, foot prints to this town. Wha'ever it was it shtole me favorite schword." *hic*
-Rowan draws the prints in the dust of the table-
"Umm... no sir... I...I..I ain't never seen nuthin like dat." The barkeeps face pales as he backs away from the barbarians spot. Rowan's eyes narrow as he senses the deceit. The big man stands and streches... letting all see his Dragoon sash hanging from his wide belt, which just happens to be hanging next to his large red stained club.
Many of the people in the bar hush as they realize one of the realms defenders, the Legion of the Dragoons, is sitting and drinking in the dirty pub.
"Well... I needs some fresher air... I think I'm gonna go a lookin' *hic* for the thing that tooks me schword."
The man walks out of the pub in silence, the nights cool air bringing the mead ladened fog away from his mind as he sets off looking for his Cousin, The Silver-Fox. If anybody can help track a thief... Silver-Fox can.
Standing not far from the tavern, a half-elf in ice-laced clothing stood near the town fountain, still running from the magical hot spring that the town sat on top of. He used some of the fountain water to warm himself, and waited for someone he was told could help him find a relic - if not at least lead him to somebody who could.
His tunic sleeves were cleaned of the ice, but his surcoat was frozen nearly solid. "I need to stop staying out in the cold so much..." Shadow had thought to himself, thinking a response from Dengrave might come... But, as normal, Dengrave didn't speak unless he needed to.
Moments after he had thought this, he heard a large man leave the tavern with hics and grumblings about a sword. "That is the Rowan, follow him, but stay out of sight." Dengrave spoke inside of Shadow, and jerked Shadow's head toward the large man to see him, then jerked it up toward a ladder leading on the rooftops.
Nightfall was setting in, and Shadow need rest, he had traveled to long. His adrenalin began pumping, and as he reached the rooftops, he bounded and climbed across them following the boisterous man down several ally ways. This part of town's buildings were close together and it was easy for Shadow to climb across them in few steps, and an occasional jump.
Rowan had seemingly reached his destination, and Shadow had found a window to jump into in a slightly higher tower. Slinging his small pack from his back, he pulled out his clergyman robes, taking off his frozen surcoat and stuffing it in his pack, shivering while he did so to conceal his pack under his robes. Shadow walked carefully down the tower, passing other men in cleric's robes. As he left the religious building, he pulled his hood over his head and waited for the barbarian to finish his business so he could speak with him one on one.
-Rowan looks around and gives a barely audible grunt
This wasn't the right way; maybe that was better quality mead than he thought.
-He abruptly turns around and pushes roughly past a man exiting the church
"...Sshorry father, haff to *hic* find me shword..."
"I know my good for little cousin is around here somewhere! The one time I really, Really need him... I can't find him."
"SILVERFOX!!! WHERE ARE YOU!?!"
The rough looking man continues walking off his mead and looking for his sneaky cousin.
---meanwhile--- Shadow manages to work his way down the tower to where this Rowan should be. He gets out just in time to hear him bellow out something about a fox... He also notices the two brigandage looking men slowly walking up behind Rowan.
Ematai and Lamp walked down the alley way after dinner. The kids were all settled down and lying in bed, not asleep yet, but at least lying down. They have recently ran out of flour so they [Ematai and Lamp] were on their way to buy some, and then go to their local dealer to see how much money they can make off with their new sword. The sword was hanging down by Ematai's side, hiding underneath a large grey cloak. She held the edges together to block out the wind, her head covered by the hood. Lampir was walking next to her carrying a little leather bag full of their precious gold and copper coins. He held it protectively and every once in a while would look around to make sure nobody was going to steal it. This was the first time Ematai had let him carry the money on their excursions to buy stuff within the city. *~*~*~*~*~*~* Shadow quickens his pace to come behind the two men. He knows what is going to happen, but doesn't know if he can stop it, or if he wants to.As soon as Shadow gets close enough behind the two men to attack them, they reach Rowan. They each put their arm around the half drunken man and pull him towards an alley way, making it look like they're old friends just helping out their friend. Shadow knows differently. The two men immediately attack Rowan as soon as he is hidden in the shadows of the two buildings. Rowan fights back beautifully but he is a little slow with his mead still in his system, and since he walked a great deal that day and was tired. He soon tired out from keeping both men off of him. They punched him and kicked him, and soon his world was black on the edges from his last blow to the head.Two words sent Shadow into action. "Help him," Dengrave said. Shadow quickly jumped on the nearest man, his small, but strong, arms going around the mans large neck. He pulled back, closing his oxygen supply. His excapade on the mans back didn't last long though, for the man grabbed Shadow and pulled him over his head and onto the ground infront of him. Landing with a small thud, Shadow jumped back up and pulled out his short sword, he wouldn't be going down with a fight.With a short glance to the man beside him, lying down on the ground, Shadow knew that this man was a good man, someone who didn't deserve to die just so these two highway robbers can buy some extra ale. Shadow's eyes narrowed and took up his fighting stance, the first one to come at him won't be happy after this little fight. *~*~*~*~*~* Lamp suddenly stopped in the middle of the road, his head turned to one side and his eyes glaring at a small, dark alley ahead. "What?" Ematai asked, stopping next to him. She followed and saw what he was looking at. Buttlebee and Ruffel, the two brigandage men, was punching a boy. Buttlebee was holding the boy and Ruffel was punching. Ruffel seemed a little beat up, blood was dripping down his left arm and his shirt was slashed, blood slowly soaking his shirt.Ematai knew those men, she use to hang out with them a few years back before she decided to head out on her own and not kill people just to get money. She shook her head and pulled out her sword. She threw off her cloak and quickly walked to the alleyway with lamp in tow, who was stowing the money in his more secure pocket. He pulled out a dagger and rushed in after Ematai. Ematai pulled her sword back and then plunged it into the back of Ruffel, Lamp following and jumped onto Shadow, stabbing quickly at Buttlebee. When Buttlebee let go of Shadow, Lamp used Shadow as leverage and jumped ontop of Buttlebee, his slashing and stabbing continueing, easily evading Buttlebees punches. Soon both brigandages were on the ground being looted by Ematai.Lampir walked over to the other two bodies and let out a little yelp when the bigger one suddenly grabbed onto his leg. "Wheres me sword?" he croaked out, his eyes staring daggers at Lamp. His eyes closed though when he was punched on the head by the hilt of a dagger. Lamp looked at Ematai to make sure she didn't see that, and then walked over to Shadow. He was still awake and sat up. "Thank you," he said to Lamp. Lamp nodded his head and scurred back to Ematai who was just finishing pulling the bag of coins out of Buttlebee's pocket. "Should we take their clothes? We could cut them and make new ones for the kids," Lamp asked. Ematai nodded and stripped the two dead bodies to their barest. She knew there was a bounty on each of their heads but she couldn't bring them in, for there was one on their head. She glanced at Shadow, who was watching her, and smiled. He could have them. [them as in the bodies to turn in for the bounty of their head. ] Ematai then left the darkness of the alley way. She went to where she dropped her cloak and put it back on. She cleaned the sword with the edge of one of the stolen clothes and then stuck if back on the sheath at her hip.
"Is the flour still a necessity?" Asks Lamp as he straightens out his cloths and cleans himself.
"Lamp! Quit that! We're in the presence of a stranger..." Whisper Ematai. "I will take the clothes back to the house, you can go buy the flour." Ematai hands him a few more golds pieces for the flour. "Here you are."
Lamp takes a glance at Shadow then whispers to Ematai, "What should we do about him?"
"Don't you worry 'bout him, now go get the flour." Replies Ematai.
Lamp nods and runs off on all fours with great speed back towards the alley way they had came from.
Not being able to reach the men in time to thrust his sword in one of their sides, Shadow shuffled in his robes quitely down the small alley way just as the men had entered it. Being able to see in the dark, he knew they were unarmed, but still much larger than he was for a young half-elf. He couldn't beat them by brute force, but if he could help the barbarian, he may be able to bargain with the man.
After the scuffle, Shadow was bruised and blood dripped from his face. He knew the taste in his mouth was pleasant to Dengrave, but seemingly normal to Shadow. He did not know why those who had helped him left with the clothes and money, or why the had even helped him. He looked over at the barbarian, and knew exactly what needed to be done.
Standing up, Shadow pulled out his scroll from beneath his robes and touched the barbarian who did not stir. He began to mutter in an ancient tongue, and a dim light glowed from his hand that touched the man. The light grew acrost his body and quickly all his effects were fixed: his chain shirt re-linked at the tears, and his bruises and cuts were healed.
Finally coming to, the barbarian looked at the cleric and his damaged state, and realzied what had happened.
"Let me get you an ale friend!" He boasted, and lifted the half-elf with one hand. Limp, Shadow breathed a sigh of exhaustion.
"I don't drink ale, but I appreciate the offer sir." Shadow spoke quietly. "I need your help finding a... special item for my... church." He said, choosing each word as he breathed heavily.
Still not sure whats going on... wakeing up on the ground with a small cleric over me, all wounds from a fight I cant quite remember healed and sober at last... only thing I can remember before walking into this ally was seeing the person... err, creature that stole my sword and a female voice telling him to buy flowers.
"You want my help then you got it. Know this though, Im looking for my stolen sword and my cousin Silverfox. If I see either of those between now and helping you... I will do what I need... understand me father?
Rowan cracks his knuckles and neck to make his point.
He knew the mans strength, and didn't need the show of his knuckle cracking. Shadow chuckled at the thought of being considered a Father. He looked at his clothes as the barbarian had lifted him. The were black and red, common clothing in these parts, but his shall around his shoulders seemed demonic. Then he realized that this man could not see as well in the dim lighting as he could.
"I completely understand sir and there is no need to call me Father - I am not even worthy of such a title. If you must, call me... Brother Moonstride. I am willing to helping you with what you need, and I believe your word." Shadow said, breathing one last breath of relief. "Give me a moment."
Standing perplexed, Rowan stood in the dim lighted ally, while the cleric took off his robes and regarmented himself with his tunic and surcoat. He restrapped his blades underneath his surcoat, and slapped his pack over his shoulder, and quickly said, "Ok I'm ready, lead the way."
---Meanwhile--- The general store owner eyeballed his customer who was buying flour from him. He thought him a thief, but as he saw how much he paid for it, his grin broadened at Lampir.
A general store keeper watches as a small black-clothed creature comes into his shop. The keeper smiles at the little fellow, until he stands up to a full six 'n a half feet. The creature takes out a bag of coins, then slouches to a few feet shorter.
The keeper, relieved a bit, asks the fellow, "What may I do ya' fur?"
The creature replies in a relatively high voice, "You have any flour?"
"Yes, matter-a-fact I do. Will one bag do ya'?" Continues the keeper.
The creature nods and put down a few gold coins, not knowing how much it costs.
The shop-keeper looks down at the money in surprise and replies, "You won't be needing all that there, sir." He smiles and pushes most of the coins back, along with the bag of flour.
Lampir smiles back, takes both, and walks out of the store in his shorter stance. He quickly runs back to the house as he remembers that Ematai still wanted to sell the new sword.
He returns, as Ematai is checking up on the kids, to make sure they are asleep, and they are, being near midnight.
They both head off towards a good friend, whom they think will gladly buy their new item.
