I posted this on the national boards but I thought I'd repost it here in hopes of getting some local opinions I'm in the planning stages of my first set of garb and became curious about other peoples (in particular, other ladies) experiences/preferences on garb. I would truly appreciate any input anyone could give on my questions. I haven't made any major character decisions yet so my options are still pretty open. However I am not a sewing expert nor do I have the funds available to purchase anything too expensive. Besides when you're only 5 ft tall you usually have to alter it anyway... My only preference is something at least slighty feminine. I like fighting with the boys but I'd rather not look like one. ;D - Pants or Skirt? Any particular styles you prefer? (I've seen some threads extolling the virtues of skirts but most of the posts are from men.... Ladies?) - Tunics/ tops? Anything important to note in this area? -What type of fabrics do you prefer? Any that should be avoided? -Colors? (I know that neons are forbidden and yellow is for heralds.) Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me with this!

Frommy experiance:
To keep a feminine look while being functional a loose or flowy skirt (with slits for ease of movement that wont trap weapons) is a decent way to go as long as you wear something under it. Wrap pants are a big yes, the different ways to tie them can go from the masculin samurii to gypsy inna second. If you want to wear a skirt though, keep it mid claf or knee length so it wont catch when you kneel or get tangled if you ever go into woods or brush battles. Wrap pants with a sash of hip wrap also looks very nice and can be Fem'd out.
For tunics you again want something loose that you can move in. I'll link some pics at a later time. Brenna, Mirille and Twinkle are the ladies you wanna talk to on the Dag natl. boards about this.
Colors... That will be more decided for / by your persona. If you want to stay simple until you know whats going on, stick with earth tones or whatever you feel like wearing. For a long time, my garb was decided by what was on sale at the time!
Hope this helps, Rowan
