I know most don't really know me yet but I'm looking for a name to go by. Just looking for some thoughts trying to make up my mind...I've come up with four options.
Vidarr (Nordic in nature) Boaz (Hebrew/eastern in nature) Castle (my old mmorpg tag) Priest (because I'm a minister)
I know my fighting style would help determine but I haven't really settled on one. Wanting to go perhaps duel wielding Florentine axe/swrd combo or swrd/swrd but haven't practice enough to know how I feel on it or if I would be effective.
I love the Nordic character Vidarr but sounds so much like Vader. I think it is where Lucas got the name from anyway.
Any thoughts? Oh, and I guess the most appealing RP ranks to me would be Beserker, bladedancer, or shamman.

It's really hard to give you specific advice without knowing you or seeing you fight but I can give you some general advice. Whatever name you pick: 1. Test it out. Say it in sentences, have someone yell it across the room, ask people who don't know what it is to say it. This will give you a good feel for what it would be like to have the name. 2. If it can be shortened, it probably will. Be aware of this and make sure you're ok with possible variations. 3. You might want to pay attention to the names of other fighters in our group. Their isn't any rule that players can't have similar (or even the same) name but it does make things more complicated. In my opinion I wouldn't be too hasty to pick a name. If you are you might just end up changing it again in a month. That being said, fighters without names often get one picked for them Good luck with your search. I look forward to fighting you in the near future, whatever your name may be.

Pretty much what she said. Go to some practices, develop your character a little bit, THEN figure out what you want to roll with in a name.
You're persona will influence more how you're name "fits" more so than your fighting style. "Chuck the Viking" would sound more off than "Chuck the red-wielder".

1. what you first pick sticks. ask sack-tap
2. anything over 2 sylables gets shortened to 2 when im trying to get you to turn arround and not get hit.
3. add "Behind!" to any name and see if its simple to shout (spelling not included) i.e. Var-den, Mil-ie, Ro-wan, rag-nar, Wolf, Fur-ie, Bish-op, Cal-ma-dor-The-te-ra-ble got hit in the back at "the"
3. I like priest, or boaz but it will end up booze.

No, but names generally stick. So you can want to change your name... but you'll still be called by the one we first got to know.

I still get called Malek on occasion. lol Thankfully Thanix gave up on "Hiroto" because Wulf was so much easier.
Yeah, changing names/personas can be difficult to get people to adapt, but generally people will give you some leeway early on and provided you make people remember your name by actually coming up with a kickass persona to go with it and actually RP it out, they will be more likely to take you seriously and make the effort to work with the change.
Otherwise you may be stuck as Sacktap, Snugglepants, etc. for the rest of your Dag career. ;-)

Thanks for the good advice all. And since I don't want to get stuck with Sacktap or any other variation there of I'm going with Boaz. Long 'o' sound Bo-az two syllables ans is easy enough to shout.
'Boaz' is known as the Kinsman-redeemer in Hebrew culture and is the name of one of two main main Pillars of the first Hebrew Temple. It bears the meaning "He establishes in Strength" with the literal meaning of "the swiftness or strength of a horse."

Yes Solomon's Temple was the first Temple. Before this it was the Tabernacle. And those are the pillars. They also believe it may have been a acronym of some time though its meaning is lost...

Hooray for Kabbalah and Freemasonry. Welcome aboard Boaz. No weird handshakes or the Knights Templar unit might track you down. ;-)
