Reminder 12:30 we will be collecting waivers and checking weapons. You also need to sign in on the attendance sheet. I Osric will have it. You must check in before you join in field battles.
My wife and her super awesome camera will be at practice to take profile pics for the character sheets. We will only be taking the picture if you have paid voluntary dues. Garb up, armor up, and look bad ass. Pictures will be taken in the 1st hour of practice. If we don't get ya this week I will have her back again every so often.

I'm not sure what you are talking about Beard. What is so funny about a shemagh? And this is coming from the guy who can't spell sergeant right! (referring to your sig)

Ok enough of that kids. Forecast says 70% chance of rain right now we will see in morning. Quartermasters meeting is still on either way. I will update if practice is being canceled no later than 9:30am. Pictures are postponed till next availability of my photographer I'll let ya know.

Yeah it's still looking like 70% chance for most of the day from about noon until 5pm. After raining all afternoon today and evening, if we get any rain (and it'd be pretty darn difficult to not get any with a 70% chance of rain over the course of 5 hours) it'll be pretty dangerous to fight in, even for those who enjoy mud fights. Weapons get soaked up with water and break down faster, the ground gets slick, and missiles are out of the question. I'd imagine even if practice isn't called, there will be all of about 4 people there tops. As much as I hate to say it since turnout has been slowing down as it is lately, I'd highly recommend we call it if it isn't sunny and 70 degrees at 9am because mother nature decides to thumb her nose at the weather portents.

I think I'll be showing up for a bit, regardless. Three weeks till Rag isn't a time for me stop practicing. I had some good fights last year at Rag in the rain. But, everyone must make the assessment on their own health and safety. I hope to see a few people out.

@wolf My auto google search gave me something very different then your link...which was really really funny!!!!
about may 15 I think we should refrain from calling practices or even say "im not showing up for this practice on this date" in my opinon this hurts are practices even more and I would rather have the ability to spar 4-6 people then none.
Yes weapons get soaked and yes clothes get muddy and yes its slippery, but its nothing we havent fought in before at events or other practices.
If im stepping on toes im sorry but
TODAY IS STILL A GOOD DAY FOR FIGHTING!!!

Well as you can see, I still ended up out there and fighting, even though I generally don't fight in cold + wet. It was just warm enough to get me on the field. Wet doesn't bother me, but it is a bit more dangerous, and it does make weapons break down faster, which is something you don't want to happen right before Rag.
I suppose I was a little unclear on what I was saying though. By "calling practice" I was simply saying what Osric was saying...no new waivers, no attendance, no hero points, no proficiency testing (we ended up doing that anyway because people twisted O's arm), and so on. i.e. if people want to come out and fight and get wet and possibly risk getting seriously injured, risk weapon damage, ruined clothing, etc. that's fine...but we're not sanctioning it as an official NS event/practice...waivers or not, that sort of thing could theoretically come bite us in the butt.
I do agree though that maybe announcing to the world that "I won't be there" has a negative effect. I know I've done it in the past, and will likely refrain from doing so in the future. I also don't think we necessarily need to announce when a practice isn't going to be sanctioned, until people are out there and ready to go. If it's like today, and the realm leaders want to say "let's make this an unofficial fighty fight day, no official practice, garb optional, no proficiency stuffs!" maybe it's best that the call simply be made on the field once it's been seen and tested, much like the "no missile weapons!" call is made on the spot, not prior, rather than simply speculating due to weather forecasts.

I disagree I know I would want to know ahead of time that practice is being canceled. I understand we had fun but it was slick and one wrong step and someone gets hurt bad. I don't want drive all the way to the park to find out we are now call practice and have to just turn around and go back home when i could have log in and check if some one made the decision. I have no problems with someone after the post is made that they are going to show up and take their chances. We have people who travel to are practices and I think a decision made ahead time is a service to are members. The only change I will for sure next is to text other leaders and ask what their plan is and go from there. I will take this up with the Elders and the chieftain to give us a direction to take this.

Ok I am resending my post. I will no longer be call practice. I fighters have signed a waiver and under they personally need to take into account their own safety. Practices time are set show up and be prepared for the conditions on the field. If their are weather warnings being broadcasted I would suggest you don't attempt get your lighting dancer prof it can be costly. Rain, Sun, Heat, and even snow it should be every fighters personal choice I am sorry for over stepping and taking that choice into my own hands. The fighting was fun and I am glade I went. Sorry Savages.
