Well, i got this idea a while back, when i saw some German dag vids, then Charlie made a shield similar to what i was thinking.
a very heavy, 2' round shield. thick plywood, lots of foam.
the reason i thought of this was because i thought it would be cool to be able to use my shield, kinda like a weapon. other than shield bashing, i could throw my shield into someone else's as they run by, or just to shove someone away. i know in 300 this happens a lil.
yes this seems a little unrealistic, but i think i wanna try it. my only question is this; is it 'bad' or dishonorable to do things like that with your shield, like shoving it into another persons, to throw them off balance, or open them up so you can take a swing?
thanks for the input!
P.S. The shield would not be a full time shield, just something for maybe big battles, or legendary shield ;p

Feel free to shove people with your shield, all that sort of stuff, but it's a no on throwing it at people since shields are now classified as weapons.

Wait...they're classified as weapons now? Does that mean they finally have minimum weight requirements?

hmm... so if you have a strap shild and someone hits your hand, do you loose your arm?
do bucklers then count the same way if its straped to your arm and someone hits your hand?
throwing and/or droping with intent to hit my knees/shins will just make me want to kick it at you.
no Captain America, period. Make a foam frisby and aim for the head

Had an answer all planned out for you guys, but I'm gonna ask a few people just to clarify, there seems to be some confusion...I'll let you know when I figure it out.
Fury- 3.3.7 - Hands and feet are unaffected by weapon hits if: 3.3.7.1 - The foot is on the ground; if the foot is in the air when it is hit, it is considered a hit to the leg. 3.3.7.2 - Hands are holding a weapon or the handle of a shield. When not holding anything, hands are considered part of the arm.
So, if you've got a strap shield on, and a flail reaches in and hits your hand while you're gripping the handle, it's hand on weapon. In your case with your buckler, if I smack your hand and you don't have anything in it, it counts as your arm. Make sense?

Shields aren't "weapons" as they dont cause damage.
Shields ARE weapons in that they cannot be trown.
And no min wieght yet.... yet.

shield bashing is legal and thats what i think youre referring to. throwing is a no no unless its a rock or javelin...period.
as for 'hand on weapon' with shields. if youre holding onto the shield with the hand then its 'hand on weapon' due to the historical inaccuracy of a realisitic flail wrapping a shield and causing damage to that area. now if you have a buckler and youre buckler hand is free and not holding onto anything and i hit it...its a hit

Mk, As far as the shield tossing goes, tossing it up in the air, or in the general direction of someone is ok, so long as you do it safely. Throwing your shield at someone is not. Don't do it.
As for hitting people with your shield...As long as it's not in the head, you're fine.
