OK, so I managed to remove every one of the rivets from my breastplate straps without damaging the leather! YAY! But, the rivets are pretty much not salvageable for re-use now. Booo! So I need help...
I was wondering if anyone either has or knows somewhere local I can purchase some copper 9 rivets (the washer and peen 2-piece ones) so I can finish this refitting project. Alternatively, if anyone has a Dremel type tool with an edger (a small cylander sanding tool) I could probably smooth them back out and be able to use the ones I pulled.
Anybody? :-)

Sweet. Someone recommended I check Tractor Supply. If I can't find the rivets I'll be gettin' with you to see about using it. I'mma try to call 'em when I get up and find out.

I doubt you have 16 of them, but feel free. lol I checked around all over, couldn't find any, so I am gonna prolly order a box from Tandy or something. They're like $15-20 and the rivet setter is only like another $10. I'll have plenty left over, so who knows, maybe I'll start learning a bit about leather armor production. :-)

Try looking at ACE hardware...I think that's where I got mine when I was in the SCA. Not 100% sure though. It's been a while, lots of headshots and such...lol

Well thanks anyway Daroth, these are copper-7 rivets I think, just a little too narrow and the flat is a bit too small. Was worth a shot tho' since I do have the extra washers.
I will try ACE, thanks Rag. Or I'll just order a box online if all else fails. I want this armor done soon. *sigh*

So, I have my torso piece pretty much done. Just need to trim and round the edging around the arms and the bottom a bit because it kinda pokes me here and there in unpleasant ways.
However I cannot peen my rivets because I have no nippers to trim the excess with. I thought there was a way you could cut the ends with the setter, but I'll be darned if I can figure it out. Anyone know how or have nippers they can bring Sunday? It'd be much appreciated! :-)
