Good deal. That doesn't solve my nipper problem tho. lol (well it would solve the problem, but I already bought a nice Weaver setter. I just read a lot of stuff incorrectly, it seemed like you could use the tool to also cut the cuff. Obviously not. :-P Once I have nippers though, I'll be in business. :-) (of course after the nippers, I'll need a peen hammer, and then an anvil, and wooden models for waxing, and dyes, and....well lots of leather. o.0 ) So Maas, what exactly are "snippers"? Is that a technical term? lol You mean like wire cutters? Yeah, if you are Superman that could work. :-P I need something more like tiny bolt cutters. :-) They are called rivet nippers (because they nip the tip! They nip it right in the bud! :-P)

Yes but you're a bear. :-P I don't have enough dexterity to use my feet to do it, and I'm afraid my legs are the only thing strong enough to cut through copper with wire cutters. :-P
Were you volunteering to trim my cuffs? :-D
*edit: I just realized that by "wire cutters" you probably actually mean nippers (just not the ones specifically used for armoring, but they do work, yeah!). :-P I was thinking electrical wire cutters/strippers. lol Yeah...so I remembered we had a pair of those somewhere, found 'em, trying to work the rust out now. Hopefully I can get them unseized and then I'll be back in business. :-)

So yeah...I think I do want to get an actual pair of leatherworking nippers, because jeez that was hard.
Anywho, all the rivets are now cut and peened. I re-oiled the armor, applied some waterproofing spray (which coincidentally also being a bit old kinda foamed up a bit and discolored it in just the right spots to make it look sea-worn) and it's currently drying. After a very long year....I finally have it done.

Yeah, lemme check around but $20 for nippers doesn't sound bad, since most of the regular kind run over that. TSC had a pair of 10-inch nippers for like $25, and those were just regular ol' nippers I presume, like for putting up fencing and such. Lemme look into it online and I'll get back to you Wed. :-)

dont quote me on that wulf. i don't know if thats a fair estimate... just assumed so. your talking about front pinch metal snips yes? and anon... my leather guy is an Amish man named "Solomon." He is pretty cool, and he took over the leather business from his dad who lost his leg..... somehow. bet it didn't involve a lawnmower... or did it?
