Memory foam + club = people take hits because you can see where you hit them by the mark on the weapon!!!!

Just watch out for the pain you will be dishing out on the second hit when you are swinging just the core with a thin layer of condensed padding on it. The Meijer blue camp foam acts this way too.

This is Dagorhir. There is no kidding in Dag. This sh!t is serious. (I know you were kidding. That is why I made the smiley face with the tongue sticking out in my reply.)
However, on a more serious note, you could use memory foam as the incidental padding and then use your club like a pillow during camp outs. This would serve two purposes: 1) It would cut down on the number of items to pack and take up space and 2) keep your weapon close at all times in case some camp decides to make a late night/early morning raid on our breakfast sausages or our cuddly stuffed yeti plushies that we need to hug before going to sleep.
This may have to become a new NS rule. You must bring one weapon that you can sleep on so you don't waste valuable space with a pillow. An oversized rock comes to mind.
